I’m sick of my garden

POSTED BY KIM — Summer is over and fall isn’t quite here yet, at least not in spirit, and I am really, really sick of my garden.  I think most people tend to view their own gardens with a more critical eye.  But I look outside and see perennials that need dividing, plants that should be moved, and flowers that need deadheading.  *Except* for this bed.

An oakleaf hydrangea is offset by golden Hakonechloa 'aureola' grass. The only things that don't suck in my garden right now.

Granted, there’s not a lot of flower-power here, but the golden grass is really colorful, and the campanula have been blooming for many weeks now.

Even my mulch is tired!

Maybe I’ll revive with some cooler weather.  Along with my garden…

  • Okay ,Kim. I guess I understand the “tired of garden” thing but I cannot go there. Hubby is working, almost 24-7 ,so the garden is my stress reliever. In the last two weeks, I have gotten a truck load of “black gold” compost ( myself). That would be 2 bobcat scoops or one yard. This stuff is GORGEOUS. I think it is the med my weary soil needed. But, here’s the thing: it took me 17 hours to distribute it( myself) alone! Whew! Now, WOW! The heucheras and the carex look so phenomenal against the “black gold” . I am in love all over again. And about that carex…Ahhh. That will have to be the next blah-blah blog! Botanicalann
