I *seeeeee* yooooouuuu...
POSTED BY KIM — Persimmon! The winning entry was submitted by 13-year-old John M. of Kirkwood, who tells us that chances are good that our little owl “Persy” is probably a youngster that was raised in his nearby yard in a Persimmon tree.
John’s mom, Donna, volunteers at the World Bird Sanctuary. She says: “(Screech owls) are adorable, but actually very tough, little predators. They can actually kill a duck and eat their fill. Usual food is insects and mice for the everyday fare! They usually feed later at night after the bigger raptors have had their first choice. Larger guys go first!!”

Yay, Persimmon!

What a great story. Now we know where our little “Persimmon” grew up. I hope he sticks around and keeps Sugar Creek as his home.
All of the other names were fantastic. So creative!
