A fairy garden on steroids

POSTED BY KIM — I’m on a fairy gardening roll!  And it just keeps coming.  The kids and I went to the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Gardenland Express display, which is a room full of tiny winter villages, people, cars, etc., including tiny mountains (that’s like “jumbo shrimp”!), a moving ski lift, skiers racing down a ski slope, ice skaters skating on a pond, not to mention all the trains.

And I just want to clarify that I’m not a miniature fanatic or anything — I don’t collect dollhouses or set up little living room sets (not that there’s anything *wrong* with that).  I just get a kick out of how the plant material works into the scene.

Here’s a bunch of pics that (I hope) will inspire you to check it out.  The exhibit runs through Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009.  And so much of the plant material can be found at Sugar Creek — so get inspired!

  • I’m not in to the mine stuff either but you made it interesting.

I wish your nursery was in my area of NC. I would love to visit. I bought my Christmas tree from a place called Sugar Creek Nursery in Boone,NC. They don’t have a website. Just funny they would have the same name.

  • What — what a coincidence about the name of the other nursery!

So glad you’re visiting our blog, even though you don’t live in our neighborhood. :) But stay tuned — we may revive our mail order business in the future!
