My show-stopping azaleas

Pink and yellow...

Pink and yellow...

POSTED BY KIM — Much of my garden looks like a crazy person planted it.  There are so many plants at the nursery that I just can’t resist, so I have lots of “onesies” stuck all over — I enjoy it, but it does make certain areas of my yard look a little…schizophrenic.

When the azaleas are finished blooming, I pop in some annuals for color.

I did spend some time thinking about this section of my front yard, however, before I planted because it’s on the north side (shade) AND it’s what people see when they first drive up to the house.

This time of year, the bed really shines.  The yellow shrub is the deciduous azalea ‘Northern Lights.’  The pink shrub is the evergreen azalea ‘Girard Rose.’  (Also a Missouri Botanical Garden Plant of Merit.)

You can see some pansies that I planted last fall. Yay!

There's also some pansies that I planted last fall. Yay! The groundcover around the azalea is a campanula that's gotten out of control. You can see some sweet woodruff in the background, next to a hydrangea 'Tardiva.'
