POSTED BY KIM — We’ve been busy busy busy!  I spent Friday morning in the company of the lovely Jane Hardin, cancer survivor, manning a booth at the Sheraton Westport at the Hope, Health, and Healing Event sponsored by Missouri Baptist Hospital.  There were lots of educational and support booths from different organizations, but I must say, I think ours was the cutest!  :)

Jane and I passed out information on the connection between nature, gardening, and health.  We also gave out free pansies and flower bulbs, and met many interesting people.

This is a subject that many cancer survivors feel strongly about — as we heard firsthand on Friday.  But it’s something I feel strongly about too, because of my work with Dr. Henry Domke.  Henry is a physician who retired and transformed himself into an artist.  But not just an artist — he has developed a specialty in creating artwork for healing environments — hospitals, doctors’ offices, cancer treatment centers, etc.  BECAUSE, research has shown that exposure to nature and pictures of nature promotes healing — reduces the need for pain medication, lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, and more.  You can check out Henry’s blog at www.HealthCareFineArt.com.

I displayed some of Henry’s pictures at Friday’s event, too.  If you can’t get outside and get your hands dirty, then bring nature indoors through some pictures.  It just might make you feel better.  (Pictures below by Henry.)
